During his youth, Nicolas was fascinated by the great works of modern fantasy, such as Robin Hobb's The Assassin's Apprentice and Christopher Paolini's Inheritance Cycle, finding comfort, escape, and sustenance for his imagination.
Despite his love of literature, he pursued scientific studies and earned a master's degree in aeronautical and aerospace engineering. He currently works in the Netherlands as a space engineer.
