August 1st 2026 -- The Black Veil annoucement
I have been teasing it for a while already but The Forgotten Shadows is officially expanding!
The sequel of The Red Veil, titled The Black Veil, will be available on the usual platforms from November 24th 2026.
This feels me with joy to finally be able to share the information with the world as the first draft of this book saw the light back in 2024 already! It will now go underway deep editing and I have comissioned my cousin to create a beautiful cover to match the one of The Red Veil. More details to be revealed soon!
On the writing side, I'm also very please to have finished writing the first draft of my upcoming fantasy murder mystery.
This has been a small project which tickled me for quite some time, a short one (only 42k words) but with a very distinctive and peculiar main character. This is not just about the story, but also the prose. I have never wrote with a 2nd person POV, and the experience was interesting. I liked how it pushes me to find creative ways to make the story go through the words.
Anyway, this fantasy murder mystery is now done, and will gently sit in my laptop for the near future. I'm dropping it from my mind for the time being to focus on another project. The break should allow me to look at the draft with fresh eyes, so I'll come back to it in a few weeks or a month. It will be a deep editing time!
This story remains untitled for the time being. However, I'll mention this is not set within the Stories of Grande Terre world but rather a brand new universe.
May 3rd 2026 -- The Red Veil released date!
It finally arrived, after four years of writing (in French), translating in English, many editings from my partner, and constant double-guessing myself.
Sharing a book with the world, especially your debut novel, is mind breaking. But it is part of the growth, and a tiny voice in my head tells me it will get easier and easier the more gets published.
The Red Veil is the first book in a trilogy. I spend years on querying, both in French and English, before deciding it was not worth it and self-publishing was the designated path. Crazy me thought it would have been easier, so I started writting book #2 immediately when the first one was finished. I was so sure the Red Veil would be picked, and it would have make releases very smooth with only a year in between. It didn't happen, but this also means I currently have a complete trilogy in my hands (why stopping with 2 books when you can write a third one?).
The current state of the 3 books is at follow:
Book #1 - The Red Veil > out!
Book #2 - translated, needs editing.
Book #3 - only in French, will need translation + editing.
Once the release month gets slower, I'll start focusing on deep-editing Book #2 and getting it in the best shape possible. I'll also start commisioning for the cover art. This still leaves me plenty of time for trial and errors on KDP, to make sure it is neat for its publishing release.
The schedule hasn't change: Q4 2026 for Book #2 and Q2 2027 for Book #3.
In the meantime, I started writing an adult fantasy standalone, that I sincerely hope I'll get representation for :)
